What We Provide

Specialist 1-to-1 IGCSE Tutoring

IGCSE tutoring at HK Study Hub is 1-to-1 and built around the student in front of us — their specification, their current level and the specific topics where they are losing marks.

IGCSE tutoring at HK Study Hub is 1-to-1, not a group programme. Each session is built around the student in front of us: their exam board and specification, their current level, and the specific topics and question types where they are actually losing marks.

Rather than working through a generic textbook, tutoring focuses on curriculum-specific support — identifying weak areas, building conceptual understanding, preparing for assessments, and working through question practice that matches the specification the student is sitting. Progress is tracked over time so the focus shifts as the student's strengths and weaknesses change.

Because the work is individual, it is tailored to the student's exam board and specification. Two students studying the same subject under different boards may need different emphasis, and tutoring reflects that rather than treating IGCSE as a single uniform course.

Cambridge IGCSE and Other International GCSE Specifications

HK Study Hub has a strong focus on Cambridge IGCSE, while supporting students studying other major International GCSE specifications where our tutors teach the relevant course.

HK Study Hub has a strong focus on Cambridge IGCSE, while supporting students studying other major International GCSE specifications where our tutors teach the relevant course. We do not claim that every tutor supports every exam board; students are matched to a tutor who teaches the relevant specification.

The specification matters because it shapes what a student actually faces on the day: the syllabus coverage, the assessment structure, the question style, the command terms, the mark schemes and the exam technique the paper rewards. Tutoring that ignores the specification risks preparing a student for the wrong paper.

We are an independent tutoring provider and are not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Cambridge International, Pearson Edexcel or any other examination board. Board and specification names are referenced only to describe the courses our students are studying.

Cambridge IGCSE

Cambridge IGCSE Support

Cambridge IGCSE is where we focus most. Effective tutoring aligns with the exact specification the student is sitting, not a generic version of the subject.

Cambridge IGCSE is where we focus most, and most of the international-school students we work with are sitting Cambridge specifications. That said, students studying other International GCSEs are welcome, and tutoring is built around the specification they are actually sitting.

Effective tutoring aligns with the exact subject syllabus, the assessment format, the question style, the command terms, the grade requirements, the timing and the mark schemes of the specification. We do not reproduce Cambridge material verbatim; we teach the understanding and technique the specification assesses.

What We Help With

What IGCSE Tutoring Can Help With

Tutoring targets the specific things that move an IGCSE grade — foundations, gaps, technique and exam preparation — rather than generic study skills.

Building Strong Foundations

Secure the underlying concepts that later topics depend on, so new material builds on solid ground rather than gaps.

Closing Knowledge Gaps

Identify and address specific topics where understanding has fallen behind, rather than revisiting everything.

Understanding Difficult Topics

Work through the concepts that have not clicked in class, with explanations that fit how the student thinks.

Exam Technique

Develop the working, structure and precision that turn correct understanding into the marks it deserves.

Past-Paper Practice

Practise with specification-aligned questions so the exam format and question style feel familiar on the day.

Preparing for Mock Exams

Target the topics and question types a mock will test, and build the timing and technique mocks reward.

Preparing for Final Exams

Structure revision around the specification, high- and low-confidence topics and timed practice for the final papers.

Moving Toward Higher Grades

For students who already understand the material, focus on precision, harder questions and the margins that lift a grade.

How We Teach

How We Teach IGCSE

A four-stage loop that keeps tutoring focused on the marks a student is actually losing, not just question volume.

01

Diagnose

Identify the topics and question types where marks are actually being lost, so time goes where it matters.

02

Teach

Build understanding and correct misconceptions, so the student can apply concepts rather than only recall them.

03

Practice

Apply concepts through specification-aligned questions that match the format and style of the exam.

04

Measure

Review errors and track progress over time, shifting focus as strengths and weaknesses change.

Common Challenges

Where IGCSE Students Often Struggle

These are examples of the kinds of issues students bring to tutoring, not statistical claims about what is most common.

Learning content without being able to apply it to a question
Weak foundations from earlier years
Unfamiliar question wording
Command terms that ask for something specific
Data interpretation and using information provided
Structured written responses
Calculations and showing working clearly
Time management under exam conditions
Careless errors that cost marks despite correct method
Difficulty moving from knowledge to analysis or evaluation
Relying too heavily on memorisation
Inconsistent performance across topics
Exam Preparation

IGCSE Exam Preparation

Practical preparation that follows the specification the student is sitting, without claiming any single method guarantees a particular grade.

Work through specification coverage so no topic is a surprise
Identify high- and low-confidence topics and target revision accordingly
Use past-paper practice to build familiarity with format and style
Build timing with timed work, not just correctness
Review errors against the mark scheme rather than simply counting questions
Develop mark-scheme awareness so answers give examiners what they are looking for
Practise interpreting questions carefully before answering
Plan exam approach so time is allocated sensibly across the paper
Target revision at the topics where marks are actually being lost
By Student Level

IGCSE Tutoring for Every Starting Point

The same 1-to-1 structure serves very different students, because the focus shifts to match where each one is starting from.

Need to Catch Up

For students who have fallen behind, the focus is on closing gaps and rebuilding the foundations later topics depend on.

Working Toward a Higher Grade

For students who understand the basics, the focus is on application, technique and the topics where marks are slipping.

Preparing for Exams

For students approaching mocks or finals, the focus is on specification coverage, past papers, timing and error analysis.

Already Performing Strongly

For high-performing students, the focus is on precision, harder questions and consistency across the whole paper.

The Tutoring Team

Experienced IGCSE Tutors

Our tutors bring substantial teaching experience, with many having 5-10+ years of experience, and work with students 1-to-1 on the specific specification each student is sitting.

Tutors are selected based on subject expertise and teaching ability, with familiarity with the specifications they teach and experience supporting students through their exams.

Students are matched to a tutor based on their curriculum, subject, level and goals, so the person teaching you is suited to the course you are studying and where you want to get to.
